First Step
The Cold Pythia is a journey that has started almost a year ago.
Before being a videogame, it was an essay about four main topic:
- New ways to merge Interaction and Narration (going through the history of Walking Simulators, narrative driven videogames, Open Text by Umberto Eco and more stuff).
- Ways to convey stories leaving space for the interpretation of the audience (going through Roland Barthes works but also cheking weird artifacts like the Codex Seraphinianius (crazy and fascinating indeed), Hylics, Paper please ecc
- The difference in giving the audience an answer about a topic and making the audience questioning about a topic (the last one is what I like, since a lot of topics lack of a unique answer
- The content: a personal inquiry about choiches, future, and time, linked to some previous videogames I made (https://ruben-gandus.itch.io/the-interview and https://ruben-gandus.itch.io/mountains-haggadah).
After the paper, came the project, that unfortunately got lost after my pc detonated. If you want to see the first prototype here you go: (really raw).
So I started again in July and here is the first version.
Full of bug, raw but working.
-----------------
Main bug to be corrected:
- Input system
- Ui animation (especially the dialogue ones)
- It should lock the movements of the player at first, but it does not.
Features to be add:
- Sound to almost all the actions
- An ending
- Some transition (fake chargin interface) inbetween scenes
- Maybe some voice over
- A better and more realistic Particle effect
Design re thinking:
- Ui interfaces need to be polished
- Interaction with object should be simplified (now a lot of different keys are required)
:)
